Since its establishment in 2009, Ana Perona-Fjeldstad has been the Executive Director of the European Wergeland Centre, responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Centre.

Perona-Fjeldstad is a lawyer ( Córdoba State University, Argentina) with a MA in International Relations from the Latin American School of Social Sciences (FLACSO). She has been working in Education for the last 20 years. From 1994-2009 she worked at the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE), a global NGO gathering Higher Education Institutions active in the field of open, online and distance learning, holding several positions up to Assistant Secretary General. She was engaged in capacity building projects in Asia, Africa and Europe developed under the framework of UNESCO, The World Bank and EU programmes, mostly addressing issues of access to education. Previously she was adviser at the Chamber of Representatives (Córdoba), working also in research at FLACSO-Buenos Aires focusing on the integration process between Argentina and Brazil.

Mr. Gudmundson is responsible for the EWCs capacity building programmes and projects. He coordinates the Centre’s activities in line with the strategic priorities of the EWC Board and the policies of the Council of Europe and Norway.

Mr. Gudmundson has extensive experience in educational policy-making from working on several white papers, strategy plans and other policy documents for the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research. He was project manager for the Ministry’s project aiming to coordinate and revise all online information channels and resources for the national education authorities. Mr. Gudmundson has also acted as secretary for the government expert committee which suggested a new legal objective for the educational system in Norway, writing the expert report to the Parliament. As adviser for the Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training, Mr. Gudmundson was responsible for coordinating cross-curricular issues in the development of the new national curriculum in Norway for primary through secondary school including vocational schools.

Mr. Gudmundson has also worked in publishing, and holds a Master degree in political science and history of ideas from the University of Oslo, Norway. He has been part of the EWC since 2009.”

Mr. Bryhni is responsible for the management of EWCs public relations and other information activities. He has the editorial responsibility for the centre’s web pages and other online resources as well as written publications.

Mr. Bryhni has a Master of Arts in International Affairs from The Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, a Bachelor of Science in International History from the London School of Economics and a degree in Journalism from the Oslo University College. He has previously been Head of Communications at Norwegian People’s Aid and a journalist at the foreign news desk of the Norwegian News Agency NTB.

Iryna Sabor is reponsible for the EWC's projects in the Russian Federation and Ukraine. She holds a Master's degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Oslo (Norway) and a Master's in International Economic Relations from the University of Lviv (Ukraine). She has earlier served in the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was posted at the Embassy of Ukraine in Norway.

Ms Gebara is a Senior Adviser at the European Wergeland Center and leading the Regional Summer Academy program. She has long-standing experiences in education, in particular in human rights education. She has managed and been engaged in various capacity building programs in Europe, Northern Africa and the Middle East developed under the framework of the League of Arab States, the EU and the Ministry of Development Germany. Her work addressed issues of professional development of educators, youth participation and HRE in post-conflict settings. She is a member of the CoE Consultative Group on HRE for Young People. She holds a MA in Social Science and Human Rights from Berlin University.

Ms. Klette is responsible for the Centre’s financial affairs and administration. She also supports other EWC employees and partners in the development and implementation of projects and other initiatives.

Ms. Klette has an MSc in Management from the University of Edinburgh Business School, and a Bachelor in general teaching from Oslo and Akershus University College. Before coming to the EWC in 2009 she worked for the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research, and the Directorate of Education

Ms. Melnykevych-Chorna is a Programme Assistant for two programmes Promotion of Civic Education in the Russian Federation and Education for Democratic Citizenship in Ukraine.
In addition, she is working as a consultant for the project Learning Democracy and Human Rights.
Ms. Melnykevych-Chorna holds a Master degree in International Relations from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences and has a Master of Science in Country studying from Lviv I.Franko National University.

Mrs. Valentina Papeikiene is responsible for the project “Practicing Citizenship” which envisages a series of trainings for teachers and education professionals of the Russian Federation.

Mrs. Valentina Papeikiene holds a Master degree in Business Management of the Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Lithuania and has a long term experience of managing and facilitating various European mobility and capacity building projects in the area of Higher Education. Prior to her employment at the EWC she has worked as the Head of International Programmes Group at the International Relations Office of the Vilnius Gediminas Technical University in Lithuania.

Ms. Aspelund is responsible for coordinating EWC's projects related to issues such as prevention of hate speech, discrimination, violent extremism and radicalization. She has a Master in International and Multicultural Education and a Bachelor in Development Studies from Oslo and Akershus University College. Ms. Asplund has previously worked as a campaign advisor for the No Hate Speech Movement in Norway and is currently the head of Norwegian People’s Aid Solidarity Youth.

Jennie Holck-Clausen is a human rights expert working as an Advisor with the Nordic Programmes and Cooperation at the European Wergeland Centre. Her particular area of expertise is human rights education and capacity development programmes with a focus on National Human Rights Institutions. Prior to joining the European Wergeland Centre she worked at the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law in Lund, Sweden, managing human rights projects in South Caucasus, South-East Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa targeting National Human Rights Institutions, civil society and law enforcement agencies.
 
Ms. Holck-Clausen holds a Master of Laws from Lund University, Sweden with a specialisation in international human rights law.
